Shaftesbury Snowdrops.

Shaftesbury Snowdrops.
I find it difficult to capture the impact of a carpet of snowdrops, but close-ups do show their beauty, so I have added one close-up to this series taken in Shaftesbury. Best viewed large if you like.

A splendid display of snowdrops very nicely presented in these fine compositions Rosa. The rather grand house provides a wonderful backdrop of this magnificent sight.

Enjoy your day, Doug

Thank you very much Doug. I took a similar picture last year but didn't think it was good enough to share. I wonder if this house was once the Vicarage, as it is close to the church.

Take care and have a nice weekend, Rosa.

Wow, what a great series Rosa and a good answer to my snowdrops too. Even more here than my big clumps that I saw last week. Great close up too. Very well done.

Best Wishes. Herb

Thank you for your very kind words Herb. It seems impossible to capture them as they actually look though. I'll try again next year....maybe a nice blue sky would have helped :-)

Best wishes, Rosa.

I think you've captured these gorgeous snowdrops beautifully Rosa.........particularly in our main image which is wonderfully detailed when viewed large. They stand out brilliantly against the green of the grass. The house is very impressive too and I like the colour and textures of the stonework. You've managed to get some decent definition in the clouds as well.

I love both PiPs. in the first one the snowdrops form up nicely each side of the pathway and the close up in the second one is simply gorgeous.

I still haven't found any locally that I like enough to photograph. I may have to go further afield.

Have a lovely weekend.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
I am pleased you viewed it large Keith, as it shows more detail that way. I still can't capture the snowdrops as I felt when I turned the corner and saw them all....they looked absolutely stunning! It is a lovely house and the smaller building to the side used to be a school, which looks very pretty from the front.

I'm sure that if you find some snowdrops you will capture them beautifully Keith.
Have a good weekend and happy hunting :-)

It's always difficult to get a shot exactly the way you saw it first. I often leave photos on the computer for a few days before I process them and sometimes find they look better than I originally thought :-)

I think you did brilliantly!

I love the warm tone of this stone, and you've captured this beautiful ensemble from angles that show it off so well. The carpet of snowdrops adds a very nice touch!

Thank you so much for your very kind comment Eric. Sadly the snowdrops are starting to die off now, but they are being replaced by sunshine yellow daffodils and a multitude of colourful crocuses :-)

A wonderful display I wonder how long it has taken them to grow, the last few years there seems to be a lot everywhere, close up images do seem to work better I think because they are small and close together they tend to just look white as opposed the a lot of flowers

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Shaftesbury has a snowdrop festival. They are everywhere in the town and parks.
They really do make a better picture in close up.

14 months ago. Edited 14 months ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
Classic Georgian architecture Jose Manuel. They always make a better picture in close up, but in reality to turn a corner and see snowdrops covering the ground, is a wonderful sight.
Wishing you a good new week.

Oh Rosa this is beautiful. The house is lovely and the stonework is really attractive, but the stars of this series have to be the snowdrops. What a delight to see so many like this and they have even more impact when the photo is viewed on full screen. It is nice to have the close up i the PiP.

I don't know why but there seem to be a lot more of them this year which is lovely. They always look so shy and delicate to me.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Ecobird club
Thank you very much Carol. The town has a snowdrop festival, but I always seem to miss it! Never mind, it's good to walk around and see them.

The snowdrops in our garden have almost doubled this year, and they flowered very early.
