Great to see you !

Dogwood Patch - A Garden

A small garden shaded by three Dogwood trees - white - pink - red. Many plants are volunteer and like it so much that it becomes 'home'. Yet, there are others (like the False Sunflowers - seeds traveled from Oklahoma and waited a year before blooming - had to make sure North Carolina clay was suitable) - Cosmos seeds gifted by the Gentleman who cares for the NotMyGarden, Down The Road .. oh, and…  (read more)

A good day -

Skippers, Bees and the Joy of False Sunflowers ( Heliopsis helianthoides ) - Very fortunate that we had no damage - From the Hurricane that is still leaving - Marks on lives in North Carolina (and so many States) - When the rivers crest, there will be more damage - Property can be replaced - Lives -- not --- My heart goes out to those effected by this Hurricane - And also to the many, many souls who have worked 24/7 - To restore power and keep those they don't know - Safe - © All Rights Reserved -- EXPLORE --

Lifer !

A Long-tailed Skipper [ (Urbanus proteus) ] .. Know they are in North Carolina .. But, usually East of the Piedmont where I am .. I get the Carolina Leps ( Lepidoptera ) newsletter with butterfly counts by county .. Still can't find this one in any count .. When I first joined Carolina Leps, I commented to a fellow that I had trouble with ID-ing Skippers .. He urged me that it was possible ! This one .. Not a problem at all .. But, the Thread-waisted wasp .. Had to look that one up (new for me) .. And the other critter on the right .. No clue.. Lots of them around though. This is brought to you courtesy of one of our own, Pam J ... She gifted the False Sunflower seeds .. Her 'Sunnies' have been a magnet .. Thank you, My Deah .. -- 2 note on left -- © All Rights Reserved ID from www.jeffpippen.com/butterflies/longtailedskipper.htm and Kaufman Field Guide to Butterflies of North America

Oklahoma to North Carolina - The yellow False Sunflower seeds - And the packet of mixed Zinnia - You never know who will come into your life - Pam J, who lives in Oklahoma, has visited our home twice - She brought the False Sunflower seeds - Mailed me a packet of Zinnia seeds - '' Go scatter the seeds '' said Pam ( She Who Scatters Seeds ) - It brings color to the Dogwood Tree area, when they have finished blooming - The Petunias were moved from one area of the yard to this one - But, the North Carolina Songbirds helped add more - Many, many thanks to my dear Friend - www.ipernity.com/doc/pamj/42402726 © All Rights Reserved -- EXPLORE --
