Dogwood Patch - A Garden

A small garden shaded by three Dogwood trees - white - pink - red. Many plants are volunteer and like it so much that it becomes 'home'. Yet, there are others (like the False Sunflowers - seeds traveled from Oklahoma and waited a year before blooming - had to make sure North Carolina clay was suitable) - Cosmos seeds gifted by the Gentleman who cares for the NotMyGarden, Down The Road .. oh, and…  (read more)

Colors of Zinnias ..

On the Left side is Day 1 - On the Right side is Day 2 - For both Zinnias - Seeds were a gift last year which (since I am such a careful gardener) - I scattered wherever they wanted to go - Wishing them safe travels and don't become somebody's supper - Since I know so much (right) about gardening - I saved seeds from the Zinnias as they were done - Guess how surprised I was when they began sprouting this year - (and i still had the Zinnia seed stash !) (y'all really don't have to continue laughing) Knew the False Sunflowers and Cosmos were self-seeders - A person just can't know everything - Why do you think I tell them.- "Bloom where you are planted (or planted yourself)" ? Am not a baby-sitter of any plants - That sage advice was given to me many moons ago when we bought our first home in Florida - My neighbor had a wonderful yard, so I went over to get some tips from him - "Either they grow - Or they do not -" That advice has remained with me through many plant adventures - So, Dear Soul, who gifted me with more Zinnia seeds - They have a good home - Down the Road at Not My Garden - (can see her sighing right now) But, all is good - Trust me - © All Rights Reserved

Large and Loud -

A time to gather .. Pollen from False Sunflowers .. Carpenter Bees are very active .. Very few Skipper butterflies are around .. Though when the Skippers do show up .. They flit around in a frenzy .. Though these Eastern Carpenter Bees ( Xylocopa virginica ) are quite large .. Balance is no problem .. Even when a gust of wind blows .. They hang on .. On the right side .. Upside down .. Is a male Carpenter Bee .. With his distinguishing facial white spot .. There are literally hundreds of varieties of Carpenter Bees .. -- EXPLORE -- © All Rights Reserved
