Rockery

Rockery
Sunday challenge... Rocks

These were excavated when we built our house. Some of them could not be moved, a solid part of Australia :-)

Bergfex, PhLB - Luc Boonen, , Esther and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

Rockery = rock garden, for me a new word in English learned! =)

Those are my favorite forms of gardens. Not just the layout but also the plants typically planted there. My mother used to be great at arranging them. Now she is just getting too old to take care of the garden. Rockeries often requires a lot of work!

Thanks Sami. This rockery is really easy to maintain. Mostly Australian native plants. Just a little weeding now and again, but not much space for weeds on these rocks :-)

That must have been a difficult job, Gillian. I used to have a large rockery in my last garden, but yes, they are difficult to maintain.

Oh I do like the way the word Rockery sounds as it rolls off the tongue! Makes me think of a child's nursery with the rocking of a child to sleep. :) Rock gardens can be hard to maintain but they have such great charactor to them with the contrast between sold rock/stone and the living plants. Good idea Gillian.
