Queen and Simcoe, Toronto

Queen and Simcoe, Toronto
Looking down Simcoe St.

I avoid monochrome, but in colour this looked like a 50s monochrome photo so I converted it. It looks better mono. Or so it seems to me.

I say "monochrome" because "black and white" takes longer to type.

Berny, , Fred Fouarge, Ruebenkraut and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

I think you've nailed it, Stoker. The real inspiration for this is probably cinematic -- French cinema and its cinéma vérité offshoots in Canada and the States. One thing I have learned from photography, with the help of my contacts on photo sites, is what my unconscious considers important. Thanks.

An example of how the camera lies, Bob. I think he was just having a look around.

Thanks, Keith. I used the black and white film converter in PaintShop, There was a lot of red in the original, and it let me brighten the reds. The colour version has considerably less pop.
