I've seen a lot of similar headstones in cemeteries I used to frequent in Kentucky. It seemed to have been a popular style there in the 1880s and 1890s, though you'd see a few dated all the way into the 1920s or so.

I've been mystified by cemeteries for years and thus have regularly traipsed around them, but don't recall seeing these types of headstones.
