Danger Zone! (PiP!)
The closed off entrance to Birnbeck Pier captured in early evening light at Weston super Mare. You can just see the end of the dilapidated Birnbeck Pier on the far left behind the fence, and the Pip shows it in full. Hopefully when the pier is finally renovated this will be a more pleasant place to sit and enjoy the sea air.

Thank you Jaap. I liked the fact they had added a floral disply beside the bench, despite the state of the old building. Hopefully it will be nicer sitting there when the renovations have been done

Thank you very much Wilhelm. I would very much like to see it restored to how it was in it's heyday. A sadly lost opportunity, but there is talk of restoring it, so maybe one day I will see it looking wonderful again.

Thank you vey much Andrea. Really appreciated. The pier is in a terrible state of repair, hence the warnings and locks to keep peopl out. I would love to see it renovated and in use again as I remember it as a child.

Thank you very much Herb. I really hope so. Nice to see they have a bench and flower pot in place already, although that seems a tad optimistic!! It is a bit like putting up a housing estate before you put in the facilities!!

:-)) Thank you Isabel. But with the pier falling apart you would be likely to break your neck before you reached the sea!!! Even the lifeboat station that was situated here had to move out as it was far too dangerous. They are firmly behind the promised renovations though as they would like to see it rehoused here again.

Thank you very much Guni. I am pleased you like the pier. There have been plans to restore it for many years but they have come to nothing and it is now in a very sorry state. I hope the current plans move forward. I would dearly love to see a it was in my youth.

Thank you Amelia. You are right and I have wondered on occasions if renovation is even possible as it seems to get worse with each passing year. I hope they do it though as it is part of the heritage of the town.
