Thank you very much Daniela. I would love to visit California as I have heard it is beautiful and sunny. This Irvine however is in North Ayrshire in Scotland, - an interesting place to visit but lacking the sunshine!!!

Yes it is Armando!! When I took the picture I thought it was 'missing' a section, until I read it was a telescopic bridge and slid open to allow shipping to pass. It is a shame that the bridge is no longer in use though.

Nice to see you again Carol. What an unusual bridge this is. I have never heard of a sliding extending bridge before. Open now -so people have to walk that long way around. Looks great. Well done.

Thank you very much Christa. I believe the bridge was used mainly by people using the science centre, which is also no longer in use sadly. It is a real shame. I imagine if people want to get over to the other side they have to take the long way around.
