My husband can actually remember seeing the ropes laid out in lines along the road when Waddon & Sons, the rope-makers were here.
I am pleased you like the blue rope detail. Up beside the town bridge there is a signpost made of the same blue rope

The gardens look very well planted and cared for Carol. I love the seating with the ropes! Very appropriate :-) Love the PiPs! I think the town has changed a lot recently hasn't it? There were some nice shops and walks the last time we were there. That must have been before the first lockdown!

Thank you very much Rosa. It is nice to see the floral displays as they brighten up the town, - much needed especially after lockdown. I guess a lot of towns have suffered since covid and a number of shops have closed here They are building on the old Splash swimming pool site and putting in a cinema and various cafes etc but the town needs a massive amount of work to stop it from looking run down. The walk between the docks and the old bridge is overgrown and littered with debris, and part of the docks that really should be preserved has rotting wood that is almost beyond repair, and debris in it. The bandstand in the park that used to be beautiful has been left to fall apart even though they have planted flowers in there. It is quite sad really as it really is a lovely town with a lot of history. On the bright side there are events being organised, food festivals, markets and music so maybe things are starting to get better. I hope so.

That is sad Carol. I only lived just outside of Bridgwater for a short time in 1975, but enjoyed it and such lovely places very close by.

A beautiful walk lined with flowers. I didn't know the Eric Clapton song has some country chords. I have been able to read that the Irene was abandoned and even suffered a fire and restored two other times. A true survivor.
