Thank you very much Paulo. We did think the same thing but we googled every possible link we could think of and had no luck sadly. It was the setting for the film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' and also featured in Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'. More recently it featured in 'Ammonite' a film about the life of local fossil collector, dealer and paleantologist Mary Anning.

It also featured in Jane Austen's 'Persuasion' and recently in 'Ammonite' a biopic of the life of Mary Anning who was a local fossil collector, dealer and paleantologist. I tried to google the date, events, groups etc to see if I could find out what they were doing there dressed in their beautiful costumes but had no luck sadly.

Thank you very much Joe. I guess it does and Dorset was of course the 'Wessex' of his novels. 'The French Lieutenants Woman' was set here and Jane Austen's 'Persuasion was made here in part. I did try to find out why they were there but had no luck and wish I had asked them at the time.

Yes the mobiles would give it away, ha ha....What a wonderful scene to come upon Carol! Maybe it was extra scenes for Ammonite that was filmed there recently. Thank you for the music link. I like The Stereophonics. The singer reminds me of an old boyfriend I had in the 60's!!

A beautiful picture. Perfect for Lyme Regis. I believe there are groups of Jane Austen enthusiasts who dress in the clothes of the period sometimes. The Cobb plays a very important part in the plot of Persuasion.

How wonderful that you saw these ladies in all of their reenactment finery! Or, perhaps they just came from a play or show they put on? In any event, what fun that you were there and we get to enjoy seeing them too! Thanks for the presentation, it was such fun!

Thank you very much Janet. I googled everything I could think of from local shows and plays to events and even tried to match the dates to see if I could find anything about them but with no luck. You know how it is when you don't like to ask, thinking you will look it up online and then wish you had been a bit cheeky and asked outright. It was good fun to see them though - and when tey took out their phones for selfies I laughed out loud. We spoke to one of the ladies to ask if she minded us taking picctures and she spoke with such an old world charm it was almost as if she was getting into character - so the selfies made us laugh even more.
