The Bare Necessities ...

The Bare Necessities ...
For this week's Sunday Challenge, for which the theme is abstract in nature.

I spent some time earlier in the week walking around a local wood looking for things to shoot, which is where I collected these freshly dropped pine cones.

And although some of the shots I took out and about were okay I eventually decided to create an image in my back garden using the pine cones.

Fairly minimal processing on this one overall apart from tweaking the levels and a smidgen of sharpening.

, , , and 22 other people have particularly liked this photo

They look like enormous French cones ! Where were you walking? Great shot.

Not really that big Jan and they were collected in North Yorkshire, each one is only a couple of inches or so in length, but I used my macro lens for the shot.

Anyway, glad you like them and thanks for the fave! :)

Like the color and texture. If I look from far away, could be little chocolate chips.

Fabulous link Wendi, glad you got the connection ... for some reason prickly paw paws came into my head when I looked at the shots I took of these cones. Now, I only have one thing left to say to you:

Come on Baggie, get with the beat!

d.i.e.t.! 4 letter word... don't use it! I have though this past few weeks in addition to my daily insane life, added in a 5 k walk with a stop at an outdoor fitness center in the middle(ish) at least 4 times a week! That's not easy in this heat.. I go immediately after work so there is no excuse to go home and vegetate or melt!

Brilliantly excused shot of these pine cones. Creating a wonderful abstract image. Well done Paul Regards Tess.
I would not have cropped it myself The left last two make it clear that they are pine cones. With the crop this would look more like a wood abstract. Just my humble opinion.

Super work Paul!

I would have gone with the idea of a tighter crop for total abstractittyness, however! ;0))
8 years ago. Edited 8 years ago.
autofantasia club has replied to PaulOClassic©
Thanks Paul for the kind comment and your feedback on the crop. I was torn between letting it be totally abstract or settling as I did for initial 'abstractiness', but with it being in a context that the viewer could understand upon closer scrutiny! :)

I like the tighter crop idea... I would even pull it down a bit more at the top... unless you want it square, then that won't work!
