At 925 km² Hofsjökull is Iceland's 3rd largest glacier. It lies in the geographical middle of the country and covers a large shield volcano with a massive caldera.

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Da sassen noch Wolken auf dem Gletscher.... Und ja, da herrschten in der Tat meine Temperaturen. Weiter oben an der Hütte auf ca. 800m hat's da Permafrost, der im Sommer etwas antaut.

Großen Dank, Ulrich! Wenn man so liest, dass schon jetzt 37cm Meeresspiegelanstieg allein durch das bisherige Abschmelzen des Grönlandeises unwiderruflich feststehen, selbst wenn wir heute alle Emissionen auf Null fahren würden.... Die Menschheit hat offensichtlich einen ausgeprägten Todeswunsch.

Schönen Dank, Leo! Der Permafrost ist im Sommer angetaut, ich bin an einer Stelle mit dem Stiefel eingesunken;-) Schöne Frostspalten kann man dort teilweise sehen.
