Actually, I had very few yellow things so I just had to use it,-)

Yellow is not a color I have much in that is solid, just with some others colors are mixed in. I had one lemon and it just wouldn't cooperate and 1 yellow stripe bowl. Mood was such that nothing creative came my may. :(

Yes, the composition is interestingly tight. But it is good to challenge the conventions!

However, your reply rises some questions ;-)

Was the idea to capture the casual situation? So, was it our of the question to move the items even closer to each other?

Asking to learn. I do find still life arrangements very difficult myself. When and if one starts to put more time and effort on taking them, it can turn out surprisingly challenging. Even a small detail then matters.

I couldn't have moved the items much closer, the apple and lime already touched. I tried moving the lens further away but that resulted in having distracting non yellow stuff in the frame and frankly, cloning that out in post was out of the question;-)

Actually, I didn't have any preconceived ideas, I just tried to arrange the yellow stuff I found around the house into a halfway pleasing arrangement. Ideally the yellow background should have been large enough to also include the full shadow on the left...

Still life is a difficult challenge because you have to create a fitting backdrop and even little things can distract.

Cutting shadow I do not find as a problem. And actually that goes with cutting the items as well.

I would have added a note as an suggestion how to make a tight crop, but that would then cover the other notes. But the idea is this:

And in case of your image, just move all three items generously left, and cut something like one third of the apple =D

Yes, you're right about cutting, not everything has to be completely in the frame! Given more time I might -maybe-have hit on this solution. It isn't always a good idea to shoot challenge photos more or less at the last minute;-)

ui - spannend - mich stört eher die Naht, die einerseits die Objekte verbindet, und andererseits den Blick ablenkt. Salzstreuer etwas nach links und nach vorne und den Blickwinkel etwas weiter von oben. Und vllt. mit einem Blatt Papier oder Spiegel den starken Schatten links unten aufhellen. Der weiße Fleck auf dem Apfel zieht den Blick auf sich

Vielen Dank, THomas! Das mit dem höheren Standpunkt ist etwas, worauf ich hätte draufkommen müssen...Die Naht ließ sich leider nicht verhindern, ich musste die EInkaufstasche so falten, dass man die Aufschrift nicht sieht, ein homogener HIntergrund wäre eindeutig besser gewesen.
Der weiße überbelichtete Fleck und die Schatten- das zeigt, dass man sich einfach mehr Zeit nehmen sollte, sowas zu arrangieren.

Herrlich; die Sachen baden regelrecht im Gelb.
