The Sunday Challenge (TSC): Herbs and Spices

A selection from my spice rack:
fennel seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, pink peppercorns, Szechuan pepper
nutmeg, coriander seeds, star anise, anise seeds, dried curry leaves
cloves, cardamom pods, caraway seeds, black mustard seeds, ground turmeric
cumin seeds, dried rosemary, allspice, dried oregano, nigella seeds

All photos shot with Canon EOS 6D, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM • f/25.0 • 100.0 mm • ISO 100, exposure times between 15-30 Sek.

Schönen Dank, Tanja! Früher gab's mal Poster mit Gewürzcollagen, die hatte ich im Hinterkopf:-) Am besten finde ich den Gewürzduft, wenn man das Zeug trocken in der Pfanne anröstet, herrlich!

I must admit Gudrun that I hardly recognise any of these so I'm so pleased you included a list. The stars of the show for me must be the coriander seeds, cardamom pods, black mustard seeds and the allspice.

However, the overall image is the real winner ... a collage that would look at home in any cookery book or printed large and hung on your kitchen wall ... brilliant! :)

Many thanks, Paul! Many years ago posters with collages were all the rage, I remembered that when the challenge came up. I like that you can easily buy spices now, my grandmother knew just pepper and paprika;-)

Making the collage was dead easy, I use Picasa for that. You just feed in the photos and there are various options for how the collage looks and all sorts of options for size, width and colour of background etc. The drawback is that you have to take what the programme offers.
Most other edting prgrammes also do collages.

Photoshop Elements can do collages though I never tried. I don't know about PS, in Lightroom it's possible with a workaround which isn't very comfortable. Picasa is basic but very easy, you can also create slideshows and do some simple post processing and effects.

Herzlichen Dank, Christel! Der größte Aufwand war, das Schüsselchen jedesmal neu zu befüllen und die Kamera scharf zu stellen- und die Gewürze aus Vorräten nachzufüllen bzw. eine Einkaufsliste zu machen, welche Gewürze ich nachkaufen muss;-)
