I was in Finnsnes back in my my military days. Nice place.

They like to send you north:-) Finnsnes looks nice and Senja must be great to explore. I'm afraid I've only been passing by.

They sent me to Bardufoss, around 40 km further inland from Finnsnes. As a truck driver I got to see the entire region during the year I was in. However, it's a long time ago now and I should visit this area again.

That must have been interesting! We saw quite a few military planes in Troms, manoeuvre time:-) And we saw the spy ship Marjata, very weird looking...

I guess you meant the "research" ship Marjata ;) She was meant to be retired when the new Marjata is set to action shortly. However, she will be retrofitted with the latest and greatest in spy tec and will be sent back into action in 2017 under her new name 'Eger'. The new Marjata looks more normal but is a large beast. Both Marjata and Eger are traditional names for Norwegian spy ships. The two current ships is the 4th Marjata and second Eger.
