Thanks - I do like the black as well, just not sure if it should be that wide. Guess I'll have to print it to find out.

WOW, I just adore this, Laura !!! This makes a fantastic abstract! Colors are just splendid!

You're so kind. I'm so happy you like it. These are my favorite colors. Rich blues and greens put me over the top and I have to photograph them. I don't often do groupings, but some people here on ipernity are inspiring me.

I am not sure if everyone would notice it unless they were a critic, the fact that it is there draws more attention than it deserves, I think the picture is very interesting and fine just the way it is.
raingirl club has replied to HappySnapper
thanks for considering this! hmm, are you contradicting yourself? you say "regular" viewers wouldn't notice the red, but that the red draws more attention than it deserves. (really i'm just teasing you, hope that's okay)

i'm glad you think it works without the red, though i think the red adds a bit of reality to this abstract (obviously i'm still deciding).

Very beautiful either way. I had to look long and hard to find the red dot :)

raingirl club has replied to micritter
i think the red would be more obvious printed the size i am thinking of. probably 12-14" or so. bigger than most people's computer screens. so glad you like it. thanks for your comment.

Works nice for me,i dont have problem adding or moving in postproduction, before photoshop photographers used other technics to improve their works, its all good.

oh i am fine with other people making changes - i'm no purest. i just don't usually feel like i want to do it. (and i've done my share of printing in a darkroom - that's where i began oh so many years ago.) glad it works for you. and thanks for commenting.

I like this composition, Laura! And I like that you removed the pink spot; I can see where it would be distracting. Have a great weekend :-)
raingirl club has replied to Valfal
thank you! seems that people are leaning towards no red spot. and it will probably be more of a distraction when printed up large, but maybe it would feel less like a thing that needs spotting and more of a precense in a large print. yikes! i'm still conflicted (but so happy to have your input!! thank you!!)

The pink spot is still there, surely?
Two options I think.
1, Leave exactly as it is - I love it. 2, Have you tried it with a white framework?
But I'd probably leave it. An excellent image!
raingirl club has replied to Andy Rodker club
well, the spot is not in the top photo (but yes, i have the version with the spot - i keep all!! i use lightroom that never modifies the original file so i'm good)

i haven't tried white. somehow i forget that when working on a computer, but when i physically print something it's not unusual for me to want a white frame. good idea to check out.

i'm so glad you like it. i really think i will use my (expensive) ink to print this one up.

really appreciate your comments. thank you.

This is an excellent view. My tendency would be to saturate the red dot to create tension, but that's mainly a matter of taste. I think the photo is wonderful as it is. It's easy to put in a different black, but that would be like gilding the lily. This is excellent as it is.

a vote for the red dot! great. i am going to bring this and see how the dot does when the photo is printed around 12x12. Thanks for you insights and your kind comment!

Hello Laura without the red dot it doesn't belong in the composition it's not basically altering the shot just removing a small imperfection, I don't know much about editing but with a distinct colour it should be possible to select just the black and then change it, have a nice week

oh, i am very used to spotting photos. used to do it by hand back in the day. funny story, my mom (who was very involved with photography) once spotted out the sand in a photo by mistake - was working too up close...

you will know when you have the print...but on my screen the most important is the shift from two dimensions to the three in the second panel that anchors the eye, and the red spot may detract from that....but that is only how I see it now...and that's the beauty of artwork. Or am I sitting on the fence?
raingirl club has replied to David Michael club
hmm, that is a really good point. perhaps if there had been a touch of some red in that second panel then i wouldn't be questioning the red spot. okay, now this week i will print t)his up both ways! (and there's nothing wrong with being on the fence - it's a great view from there!!

[thanks for visiting my photos - very much appreciated]

The longer I am looking in this creation, the more I can find in it. The pic is living from the black stripes. I could not find an other way to show your intention. And the composition needs the red dot as much as the yellow flowers. Real art does always live from little destructing factors which are moving your sense.
raingirl club has replied to Gisela Plewe club
Thank you so much for your comment. And I'm really glad you like it with the red dot. I am not much for modifying photos (yes, I know this is a compilation, but each strip is as originally photographed if i keep the red dot). this is life as i see it - i'm honored that you put it in the category of "real art" - always my goal - and that you took the time to consider my photo.

Found this "archive" in top 5 of today "IPERNITY - Ambassador pictures" despite his age, Laura. Maybe like Annemarie?
Now on LinkedIn "ipernity weekly best of" :)
Seeing it again today makes me react again. This mixture of abstraction and of strong impressions is particularly expressive. And challenging... Moreover because of this questioning inscription "NATO"!

Thank you so much, Eric. And I'm honored that you placed in on the LinkedIn account.

[Just so you know, the "IPERNITY - Ambassador pictures" are from any time period. They are chosen by a jury of ipernity members. So "old" photos can be new to the Ambassador group.]

As to "NATO" - I never explain anything about the subject matter of my photos, so it will remain a mystery. *smile*
