Death's Embrace: A Hoverfly's Last Breath, Kissed Away By A Stealthy Spider
I was taking pictures of caterpillars the other day and while I was examining Milkweed leaves, I noticed a tiny Hoverfly on the edge of one leaf. I immediately began taking pictures but soon realized that it wasn't alone. In fact, it had just gotten caught by a spider which was injecting venom into it as I took this picture! AMAZING TIMING!!!!

Thanks so much for your info on Doons though my Dutch friend reckons this means Laundry. So from now on I'm going to call the Downs Laundries! I think it may be the difference between modern Dutch and old Dutch. Anyway, from now on, you can consider yourself my research assistant. (Unpaid, of course)

One of my greatest joys was discovering macro photography.... worlds within worlds... and you do it so perfectly.
Brilliant beyond words Janet.... but you know...I bet as the poison hit.... the Hover fly wasn't thinking he had "great timing " !!!
