Kissin' Time

The first top twenty hit for teen idol Bobby Rydell (Ridarelli) was "Kissin' Time" (Kal Mann - Bernie Lowe) in 1959. At the age of seventeen the Phillie native peaked at number eleven with this track from the album "We Got Love". "Rydell High School" referenced in "Grease" was named because of Bobby.

Kiss (Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss) didn't want to record "Kissin' Time". Gee, I wonder why? Label management thought this would be a chart entry for them and they were right as the single made it all the way to number eighty-three! The tune was not included on their self-titled first album until it was re-released. Doesn't this post drip of sarcasm?
