This puzzled him more than a little because his name was Leonard Bridgeman, and I had known him as Len for several years. Their only similarity was that they both had white beards!
The only plus side out of this is that the real Captain Littlejohns was not offended!

I've lost count of the times I've met people I recognised and stopped for a chat - and afterwards my wife will ask why I didn't introduce them and I have to admit that I couldn't remember who they were :-))
