La Sierra de La Cabrera. The weather did turn for the worse later and I got caught in a snow shower in a t-shirt!

Granite scenery. The eastern half of the sierra from the summit of Cancho Gordo.
Sight and sound, Sorry - it is 13 minutes long. But it is a real fave of mine.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLD8yMjVvkI after you get past the 5 minute pretentious intro.

Wow a snow storm in May!!!! This is an incredible view, and those clouds look so ominous. You can see that the first mountain could very well have been a volcano once.

Thank you Jenny!
No volcanic activity above ground but these rocks were formed below ground and with much of the same immense heat and elemental force.

Thank you, John.
It's strange - on some visits I get the impression of vast vistas but the panorama shots come out as hazy nothings and yet on days such as this, I'm sheltering from a howling gale in a t-shirt (the forecast was for balmy weather) and getting the camera out for a quick point-in-a-vaguely-promising direction while trying to wipe the snot from my face and stop my rucksack (and me!) from flying over the edge!
Such is life!

Great depth and wonderful rock detail. Great light too creating a slightly ominous atmosphere. When I look at this landscape I can't imagine being there with only a T shirt. Being a Scot its ingrained to take gear for every weather. Snow showers in May are not unusual and rain and fog - well ! You can have everything in one day. But T shirt days are wonderful when they come.

Amazing textures and earth colours. I love the dramatic sky too. The whole scene projects an air of foreboding and menace!

Well worth a cold soaking (easy for me to say). Brilliantly captured Andy!!

Hi Andy

I really like this! (especially the sky!)

The different elements make a real story, of which a lot of us are very familiar!

And it is unusually clear into the distance too. Must be cold!

Great composition

Best Wishes,
Peter

Thanks Peter. The forecast that morning was for 22 degrees in the mountains (70 F therefore balmy!) and no clouds. So I packed my suncream and hat but no coat or sweater. The weather forecast in Spain is usually excellent but they got it a bit wrong on that day!
Best wishes,
Andy
