Your mother had a beautiful garden - and she really loved a variety of flowers - a real cottage garden

Stunning! Is Saint Day the name of a saint or the name of a holiday, or simply a strange name for a town?

Thank you Diane.
Yes, the name of a saint. There were many saints in old Celtic / Christian Cornwall, most of whom are long forgotten except in Brittany where many Cornish emigrated before the invading Anglo-Saxons in the 6th and 7th centruries, taking their language (where it became Breton) and their saints with them.

Ah. The history of the British Isles, no less of Europe, is more complex than a mere American can comprehend. Mind you, my generation learned quite a lot of British/European history in high school, but I doubt it's taught anymore except in very broad generalities. Memorizing the invasions, battles, monarchies, treaties, their dates and other developments was a nightmare! Still remember "1066 Battle of Hastings; 1215 Magna Carta," but not much else.

I think many people are with you on dates, Diane but I didn't find remembering history dates a problem (even though i'm useless with numbers generally). This was just as well as I took Medieval History (with South East Europe as a speciality) at university! (I've always been fascinated by obscure things!).
Of course, I have made very full use of my degree in my life!! (not).
