Turegano was an important town many years ago but it suffered population decline along with all the lesser towns and cities of Spain. Now it is just the castle ruins that keep it on the tourist trail.

That crane doesn't bother me at all, the many parked cars are more of a nuisance;-) Pity about the depopulation everywhere, but people go where the work is....

A nice little scene here Andy. I too always have either scaffolding or a crane like this in front of the most important buildings. ~ Herb

From this distance, the castle looks very interesting. I'd sooner see a crane than endless scaffolding!

My immediate thought was this was another failed attempt to capture an image of your girlfriend, but I quickly saw that it wasn't :))

Attractive buildings though....................

I've read a couple of articles (with great photos) about the serious population decline in Spanish villages. Some are outright abandoned, or have only a few people. Some have found interesting solutions, like inviting immigrants to move into abandoned houses, raise families and set up shop or start farming. I think there's a Youtube video about one, actually. Fascinating...I'm in the mood for a little Spanish house. I'm on my way. I won't be raising a family or buying cows, just sitting on my porch or walking around town, so hope that will be acceptable. ;-b

You could get into bed (so to speak) with my girlfriend in her search. You could live there during the week and she could take it over at weekends. What you do at the weekends remains to be resolved ...
