Sadly, these wall murals were whitewashed over last year. Photo taken in May 2013, not in 2012 as per the exif!

Dimas Sequeira, Eunice Perkins, Joe, Son of the Rock, Eric Desjours and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

An excellent find Andy. I am intrigued at how they managed to do the top floors, - I guess the culprit was easy to spot, - the guy on the very tall stilts carrying tins of spray paint!

What a pity they felt compelled to paint this over!

I agree, Gudrun. Maybe a change of owner? Apparently the murals had been there for many years.
Many thanks.

I feel both happy and angry !! The traditional architecture is extremely beautiful and the new wall paintings excellent, well difficult to say what would have been the best to do in this case.
Street art should have more free walls for new artist's feelings, and the old architecture shoud be respected also !!

Of course this artwork would have had to have been done with the permission of the owner and the residents. That is why I suspect a change of owner might have led to a change of attitude here. But I don't really know!

There is a bit of conflict between the architecture and the murals but I'm all for artwork. It makes life more stimulating and interesting.

I agree, Jean. The problem arises when it is difficult to discern any intrinsic artistic interest! Not here though and I was sorry to see it go!
Best wishes, Andy

That's a shame Andy. Some wall art should remain, and this is a good example.

Yes, Rosa. I had become quite fond of it (it's on the walk to my girlfriend's flat). I had a shock when I suddenly saw it painted over last year!

What a great pity that they ruined the artwork.

Beautiful building, enhanced by remarkable wall art! Unfortunately, the overpainting on the wall art brought about a downgrade.
