I want to get a snow-scene of this this winter. Maybe there is some snow now. I can't do too much walking at the moment due to shingles and a long-lasting toe infection but I hope to get here and take photos without climbing to the top as I would normally do!

Really have to look hard to see the monastery. Nicely hidden in the landscape.

The monastery seems so small and insignificant in that huge rocky landscape. I'm wondering if it's still in use?

An excellent shot Andy.

Yes, Keith but as a conference centre and it hosts the occasional baptism and wedding. No monk lives there now. It was a convent once, then a monastery, then the Goya family home then in the 50s it was bought by a new monastic foundation. A lay priest visits once a day to tidy up and keep an eye on things and one of my walks past the front door co-incided with his visit and he kindly invited me in and showed me around. I took a few snaps but they weren't very good so I doubt if I'll ever show them!

Amazing how the monastery is dwarfed by the granite rocks. Wonderful to have included it if only to give an idea of the scale. Great shot.

I can't but help include it, micritter! All shots from this end of the Range have to include it! (Unless one has stuff from Photoshop. Which I con't!)
Many thanks!
