A Chinchon street

A Chinchon street
Chinchon, in Madrid Province is a very attractive town. It is also very touristy but some of the back streets such as this are less so. I was pleased that I had long given up smoking when I went up here. Even so, the walk back down was preferable!

Dimas Sequeira, micritter, Fred Fouarge, Jürgen and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

Whenever I see mountain walk guide books giving estimated times of 4 hours, 7 hours, or whatever, I say to myself, 'I don't think so'. The steeper the path, the more reasons to stop for a photo or 10!

Looks good! Not sure what's worse, up or down;-)

I used to say down was worse but I have realised how stupid this was after I did mountain walks three times a week for a year in 2011/12 (yes in La Sierra de La Cabrera). There is no comparison. Yes, you must take care going downhill and the jarring effect on spine and ankles can accumulate over time but the stress on the body of relentless uphill poundings is something else altogether! Good for fitness, agreed, but not so good regarding general wear and tear!

Yes a bit like walking up Gold Hill! Looks very inviting though and not a tourist in sight!

Nicely composed and taken Andy.

Personally, I prefer a slope rather than steps. I have short legs and steps never seem to match my stride :-)

Got a bit of both here but mainly a slope so I think you'd be Ok!
