Museum of The Gorge

Museum of The Gorge
The museum of the Gorge was built in 1834 in a gothic style and once served as the Severn Warehouse for the Coalbrookdale Company. Goods would be brought down from the furnaces and forges in Coalbrookdale and shipped down the river Severn to the markets of Gloucester, Bristol and the Empire beyond.

Thank you, John. It's a strange building and fairly old. We didn't go in - the weather was too good to be indoors.

Nicely gothick;-) The building looks very endearing - did they launch boats from the slipway?

I think some of the shipping might have been quite large, Gudrun, but I haven't found out enough about it. Maybe we should have gone inside for more info.

There is a hint of a fence, Steve, but yes it could be an HFF addition I suppose. ;-)

A bit of Gothic appeal, Keith, and tome history - that's about it. It gets some awful reviews on Trip Advisor, but I can't comment. We didn't go in.
