I thought I might ge ankle deep on harbour mud here, Nick, but the sand was good and firm. The guy who owned the blue boat had his white van on the beach and was doing a recce on the state of his boat

It was an exceptional day, Gudrun. I'm not so sure that barmouth is always bathed in sunshine like this. ;-)

... beached boats: love 'em ... such a nice composition, congruent shapes but different sizes; and background elements are nice too ... a YS here ...

Many thanks, Wally. I like beached boats too. The scenery in the background is part of Snowdonia National Park.

As a child I lived by the sea in Scotland, William. I still miss being near the seaside, and it was a pleasure to find this delightful harbour in such good weather after a drive of almost 2 hours.

Thank you, Jean. I think the light is normally clear by the coast, and this part of the UK isn't affecedt by the North Sea haar. ;-)

Thank you, John. This is the first time we have stopped in Barmouth. There were a lot of tourists (and locals) out and about - the weather was perfect!. I can't imagine how crowded it gets in the summer. ;-)

Thank you, George. the scenery around here is quite spectacular as far as the UK goes that is. Barmouth is on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. I have, in my youth, climbed two of the mountains there, but not the highest peak, Snowdon, which is the highest mountain peak in Wales at 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level.

Lovely shot ...
That's the ex-lifeboat "Elizabeth Rippon" - somebody managed to catch her vertically on her keel. whenever I've seen her, she's had a list - usually over to port - when high and dry.
