    - 19 Jan 2013 - 3 comments
Subject: Chicken with popcorn ! Here is a chicken recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a Stuffing - imagine that! When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.…

The beautiful elegance of the avenue of trees
I have trawled through my photos and can only come up with these. I've been busy today with my children visiting me, so haven't had much time for looking up for this weeks theme. I hope you like my choices............ The beautiful elegance of an avenue of trees on a French road.............. The elegant facade of the church on the beautiful island of Tinos............ The elegance of a mother swan and her cygnets............... The be…

  • Thank you all so so much for your very kind wishes for me today.

    - 11 Jan 2013 - 3 comments
Thank you so so much folks for your very kind wishes today. I honestly swear that these birthdays come round twice a year now!!! It's been a lovely quiet day, well it was until my handyman came round to see how I was, and when he found out it was my birthday - I got a big hug!! That's all folks - honestly. So when he left I got back to sewing my quilt - I'm getting into it so much, though I've had to buy more material because I wasn't too keen on some of the shades I had - w…

    The exchanging of rings
There's not a lot going on in my life at the moment - the thrill of my daughter getting married, having Christmas with my son's soon to be in-laws and having a mildish start to the New Year has sort of left me hanging at the moment!!! I've started on a new quilt - this time for me - as you already know, I've been doing about 5 or 6 hours a day sewing (with a machine!) and it's coming on in leaps and bounds. I'm getting quite excited really - how sad is that? I like the colours and I think t…

  • Rules for dating my daughter!!!!!!

    - 08 Jan 2013 - 1 comment
Rules for dating my Daughter Rule One: If you pull into my driveway and honk, you’d better be delivering a package, because you’re sure as hell not picking anything up. Rule Two: You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter’s body, I will remove them. Rule Three: I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their pant…

  • Rules on dating my son!!!

    - 08 Jan 2013 - 1 comment
Rules for dating my Son, Rule One: If my son gathers his courage and asks you for a date, this is not an opportunity to run all your errands with my car. Sweetie, you will not ask him to take you on any little side trips to anywhere, especially the mall, where he will be expected to tag along after you as you use him first as your personal chauffeur, then as your bearer for your packages. He has his heart and soul wrapped up in taking you out, for whatever reason that may be, and he has…

  • Turkey stew was glorious..............

    - 06 Jan 2013 - 3 comments
Well I had the turkey stew and it was really good. Trouble is - I don't follow a recipe and therefore it rarely tastes the same!! I get a great kick out of managing to make a meal as cheaply as possible. Over here in the UK we don't have any food subsidised, and for some reason it's quite expensive to eat over here, especially out in restaurants etc. My son said that he loved it in the US because it was really cheap to eat out and the amounts of food was excellent. Here we don't have that lux…

  • I've started another quilt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The first block starting.
Hiya folks, have been rather quiet of late - sorry!!!! I've been trying to jiggle my time between my children and my neighbours and also trying to get over my Christmas away. My daughter, Mandi, has come home, sans new hubby. She is sad at having to leave him back in Turkey, but it shouldn't be too long before he can join her here in the UK. She rang me last night when she got in after a mammoth journey. She'd left their hotel at 2am (our time) to go to the airport. It was a 2 hour flight…

The beginnings of the apples of 2012
Unfortunately I don't get out very much, so haven't been able to get many photos for today's theme. Apple eh???? Well here is my apple blossom which is the beginning of a lovely crop of apples each year. I have three/four apple trees in my garden and they are each a different variety.............. This is the last lot of apples I'd picked from my trees this last year. They are great eaters, but make good apple sauce/cooked in pies etc..................... My son…

  • 'Twas the night before Xmas - legal version

    - 26 Dec 2012 - 2 comments
Whereas, on or about the night prior to Christmas, there did occur at a certain improved piece of real property (hereinafter "the House") a general lack of stirring by all creatures therein, including, but not limited to a mouse. A variety of foot apparel, e.g. stocking, socks, etc., had been affixed by and around the chimney in said House in the hope and/or belief that St. Nick a/k/a/ St. Nicholas a/k/a/ Santa Claus (hereinafter "Claus") would arrive at sometime thereafter.…

  • My Christmas with Tony & Stevie

    - 26 Dec 2012 - 1 comment
Tony having the biggest kiss from Ruby
Am back from my two days holiday with Tony & Stevie. It's a long way from their home to mine and I can now understand why it sometimes takes a long time for Tony to come up to see me - a very long road with lots of twists and turns. Hardly any straight stretches at all. Also you go over Dartmoor which was fun!!! Anyway Tony arrived on Christmas Eve to collect me and we drove down to their home. I felt very queasy on the trip and unfortunately it meant we had to stop twice for me to take deep…

  • Mandi and Dogan got married yesterday.....................

    Mandi & Dogan marriage party
Hiya folks, just got back from my stay with Tony and Stevie celebrating Christmas. It was a lovely day but tinged with a bit of sadness, because my daughter Mandi was getting married and I couldn't be there with her, nor was she with us for Christmas, the first time ever. So she sent me a quick photo taken on someone's phone which accounts for the not so brilliant photo, but at least it's one of them together. I am so so happy for her and wish them all the happiness in the world. S…

  • Mandi's getting married tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

    - 25 Dec 2012 - 1 comment
Just had a text from Mandi to say they are getting married tomorrow at 2pm (Turkish time which is 2 hours ahead of us!!!) So that was a bolt out of the blue - I thought it was 27th - but apparently it's going to be the 25th!!! Dogan won't be allowed to forget his wedding anniversary will he? LOL Am at my son's home which he shares with his fiancee Stevie and it's a lovely Victorian house, high ceilings and lots of interesting rooms. It's so cosy and they've kept as much of the original featur…

  • Am off tomorrow to stay with my son until Boxing Day...............

    - 23 Dec 2012 - 2 comments
I know he has broadband in his home, but I'm not sure if I'll have time let alone the inclination to write anything for the next couple of days!!!!!!!! So I will wish all my wonderful friends on here a very happy Christmas and I'll be back in time to say Happy New Year!! Mandi has said that she's going to try and e-mail me her photos of the party, so if or when she does, then I will certainly share them with you. Okay folks, all I can say is..............don't panic!!! Whether you've f…

  • Mandi had her pre-wedding party last night!!!!!!

    - 22 Dec 2012 - 2 comments
Well last night my daughter, Mandi, had her pre-wedding party last night. Apparently over there in Turkey they have this party before the wedding and guests pin money on the groom's clothes and then drape the bride with gold!!! Sounds good to me. Yesterday I heard from Mandi that she was off to the hairdressers with the girls (they are the wives of Dogan's friends and most are Brits!!). She'd been with some of his family for the most of the day and they got on brilliantly. So she was off to…
