Thought you'd like to know that I've been sewing like there's no tomorrow lately!!!!!!! As I've mentioned before - I'm making myself a patchwork quilt - but for some reason I stopped - can't remember why, but while I was waiting for something to arrive so I could continue, I started doing a patchwork quilt for my neighbour for Christmas!!!!!!!!!! The steep cliffs at Hartland
I have a deep seated fear of falling so cliffs etc are a no-no for me............. These cliffs at Hartland are beautiful to look at - but they are very scary to me............. You see they are really beautiful but there is no way you'd ever get me up the top. I'd have to be at least 20 ft away from the edge without being so scared. I'd love to go up there and see the view, but even if I was in a car, I'd still be scared in case the car rolled forward!!! Daft eh?…

Joe wanted to buy a motorbike. He doesn't have much luck until one day, he comes across a Harley with a 'for sale' sign on it. The bike seems even better than a new one, although it is 10 years old. It is shiny and in absolute mint condition. He immediately buys it, and asks the seller how he kept it in such great condi…

Engagement photo of Tony & Stevie
I've just had a phone call from my son with some wonderful news - well in fact it's lots of news really....... Firstly he said that he and his fiancee Stevie are going for adoption. She's 45 and he's 43 and they've been trying for quite a while now to become pregnant, but nothing has happened - I did tell him that they should be experts at it by the amount of practising they've been doing!!!! LOL Anyway they want to have a family and so are going down the adoption route and are quite open…

    Block of my new quilt
Trying not to sit around with nothing to do while I'm waiting for the backing material to come, I've started a quilt I'm giving to my neighbour, Yvonne, for Christmas. I know it's 11 months to go, but she's got me making some bunting for her son's wedding and also a quilt for the newly weds for next Christmas. I can't tell her that I'm doing one for her too, so I thought it would be a good idea to start it now while I have time. I've started my quilt and have finished off the front but I'm…

Looking through the snow at the ice particles
Well we've not had an awful lot of icy weather in my part of the world, but in 2010 we did - boy did we!!!! We had a really bitter hoar frost and it made beautiful patterns on ordinary mundane items...... Looking up through the snow at the ice crystals.............. The ice made some beautiful patterns on the porch window................ This was a fantastic pattern - it stayed for nearly four days - so beautiful.............. Even on a knot in the branch - the ice made it look s…

7 Reasons Not To Mess With Children A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'. The te…

With my parents on a journey - feeding swans
I have been very fortunate to have journeyed to many wonderful places over the years. Here are some that I have been to............ This was when I was a small child and my parents used to take me out for day trips in our old trusty car - funnily enough - I don't really remember this one all that well............ I visited France several times and this is just one of those times - a gorgeous fishing town called Honfleur on the coast of Normandy.,,,,,,,, The beautiful mosque in Monasti…

Oh well yesterday was an interesting one - one that got more interesting late in the evening!!!! It all started this morning when I thought my appointment for a blood test was at 12pm whereas it wasn't until 12.15!! Luckily my driver from the volunteer cars arrived early or else I'd have been sitting on the damp wall getting colder and colder waiting. Then I went shopping, getting all the things I thought I needed, but upon getting home realised that I'd forgotten a few things - no problem…

Today I had to go to the doctor's surgery to have my blood test taken, it's to do with my annual review. While I was walking back up my driveway, I noticed that some hardy primroses were trying ever so hard to bloom, this year's first sign of spring here in my garden............ As you can see the greenery is strong and succulent, with quite sad looking flowers - well they do get splashed by mud etc as I've had cars and even a flat bed lorry up my drivewa…

Flames make the room all cosy
It's been another cold day here, although we have been so lucky compared to some other parts of the country. I live in the south west of England and it's a rare occasion that snow actually visits us. I know the last couple of years or so have been the exception to the rule and we have had quite a dollop of snow down here, I still am surprised to see any of the white stuff. So even though we don't actually have snow, it still becomes very cold here. The temperatures are well down almost in…
