Movie Moment: Double bill
- 223 visitsI saw Inception this past week; it's a very good movie. I must admit that I did fall victim to hype however, because it wasn't the mind blowing experience I was preparing myself for. Still, it has a great story, great cast, and was very well made even with a few twist and turns that I could see coming despite my attempts to lose myself in the moment and not think about the next steps (as I tend to enjoy doing in movies). Regardless of that, it's a definite recommendation-to-see from myself. No…

Movie Moment: the Dark Knight
- 221 visitsYesterday I finally saw The Dark Knight; Great movie! I know, big surprise eh? There probably won't be anything else new in this review that you haven't heard before, as I think it's such a solid movie that most people liked the same things, found the same flaw(s) (yes there is at least 1 in my opinion), and had the same reliefs. Anyway, here it goes... There's big buzz about Heath Ledger's performance, and rightly so. He did an incredible job, but there's was a great supporting cast as well.…

Movie Moment: Pride and Glory
- 219 visitsYES! This is my 3rd movie summary this month. NO! I don't know what's going on. Pride & Glory starring Colin Farrel, Noah Emmerick, Jon Voight, and of course, Ed Norton. It's a movie about a family of cops that get caught up in a drug bust cover up and the situation escalates from there. Sound pretty typical, and I guess the story really isn't all that creative. There's a few big name actors in it, and although they did a good job at spreading out the screen time to show them all off, the one…

Thoughts on the Indie Game Developer Community
- 219 visitsI've seen some people I follow on Twitter tweeting about Indie Game developers. Here's my thoughts; and I should say that it's complete conjecture.

Movie Moment: Be Kind, Rewind
- 217 visitsBe Kind Rewind stars Jack Black and Mos Def. I'm not a big fan of Jack Black. I actually preferred Mos Def. Mr. Def takes care of a VHS rental shop while the owner (Danny Glover) is away, and the silly friend, Mr. Black, gets magnetized during one of his crazy shenanigans and erases all the tapes by accident (sigh). Anyway, the movie wasn't great. I suppose it was a good movie but just not my style. I felt like it didn't know what it wanted to be. I suppose it attempted to be a dramatic-…

Movie Moment: Wanted
- 217 visitsOn a scale from "Never Again" to "I'm buying the DVD", this movie rates a "I'll live without seeing it twice."

Still just 5 hours?
- 212 visitsI saw a stand of 5 Hour Energy drinks. It also had 5 Hour Energy Extra strength in the same stand. Now, I'm not a chemist or anything, and this is why I'm asking, but why is the Extra Strength version still only 5 hours?

Wendy's Anti-Toy
- 211 visitsWe went to Wendy's and among our order was a kid's meal. This is what came with it.

For all the Dads out there
- 210 visitsThere are all these commercials, pictures, stories, and poems that show how hard a Mom's job is, and how valuable Mom is to the family. I googled "what would mom's salary really be" and got a link to show what Mom would earn if "Mom" was a job. I looked up "what would dad's salary really be" and the first three links are about paying child support and dead-beat dads. You've probably seen posts about how mom is a doctor, a teacher, a chauffeur and a cook. So all of that may be true, but…

Movie Moment: Inkheart
- 207 visitsMy wife wanted to see this movie Inkheart, so I sat down and watched it with her. It was better than I expected. I guess it could be considered a family-fantasy movie with some action and adventure thrown in, and some darker themes placed throughout.

Movie Moment: Shutter Island
- 205 visitsWe watched Shutter Island a couple weekends ago. We were expecting it to be a sort of ghost filled horror movie. We were pleasantly surprised to find out this wasn't the case.

Movie Moment: Predators
- 204 visitsI saw the movie "Predators" on the weekend. I was looking forward to seeing it, but not walking in with high expectations. I'm a fan of the original Predator movie, and I even liked the 2nd one. Aliens Vs. Predator, the Predator: Concrete Jungle game, and almost anything Predator related is likely to have at least some level of coolness for me. The latest movie felt like the biggest budget fan-movie ever made to pay homage to another movie. There was enough that was different about it to make…

Movie Moment - 40,000 Feet edition
- 200 visitsI went to the UK recently and had a chance to watch some movies. Here are some quick synposes of what I watched. I will say that I must not be smart enough to appreciate some of the movies that were deemed Oscar worthy, as I weren't particularly impressed by them.

We bought a new laptop!
- 198 visitsWe were thinking of buying a new desktop, as my old one is... well... pretty old, and is doing weird things, and getting very slow. Then the wires in the joint between the top and bottom halves of our laptop started acting up, causing our display to keep going out if we moved it. Since the internal network card has also been going a little crazy, we decided to go with a new laptop instead and I'm going to format the ol' desktop to start fresh and keep it going for another little while. We use ou…

Movie Moment: Benjamin Button
- 198 visitsSo we watched the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was better than 7 Pounds , but still not as good as I was hoping it to be. It was also a little depressing. The acting was good, and if you can take for granted that someone was born aging backwards, the way the events unfolded felt pretty realistic. It was also hard to tell for sure how it was going end, until you got close to it, and that was good. I would recommend watching it if you wanted a slow night in with a quiet movie, with a…

This is all I saying about Figure Skating
- 192 visitsA Canadian figure skating couple was on the news tonight. Don't take this as me saying that it doesn't take talent; all I'm saying is that to my untrained eye, every clip of every figure skating routine I've ever seen looks the same to me. Despite the costume differences, they all look like they're doing the same thing.

Steam Burns
- 191 visitsI don't like Steam. Not based on my limited experience. Aside from the gamble you're taking with some indie developers, and in spite this being all about digital whereas I like my hard copy, there's something I can't get by.

Movie Moment - John Wick
- 189 visitsFun enough to watch once, but not a lot to bring me back for repeated viewings.
