John Wick is a pretty basic action movie. It was a fun action movie, if not a shallow one, that quickly lays down the plot and gets things moving forward at the required pace with the action scenes being a mix of shooting and punching that serve their purpose and don't slow down.

At the same time, there's not much to keep me coming back over and over again. The acting was just suitable, the story didn't feel deep enough to suggest I would experience new things on a re-watch, and the action scenes didn't feel like they had a lot of escalation or evolution as they went on. Although there was plenty of action, by the end you were feeling the more-of-the-sameness of them. It's almost like they took joys of a good first installment, and the problems of an uninspired sequel, and squeezed them into the same event.

So although overall it was still a good time, it's a time I don't need to revisit anytime soon.
