Oil change?
6 weeks ago, the headlines were all about the panic as oil companies were unable to turn off wells and there being no extra storage space for unused oil as it built up relentlessly.
Whatever happened to that story? Did the problem vanish into thin air?

This seems to have been one of those crises, Andy, which failed to appear because people -- unexpectedly, it seems -- acted in their own interests:

A drive-thru oil change is a new one for me...............but I'm guessing the cars will have to stop driving thru at some point in the process, otherwise it will get very messy.

I think the circles are probably access points for topping up storage tanks - but it would make a lovely mini-cricket pitch and it's already got a wicket of sorts :-)) Unless it's access to an underground shelter, which would explain where all the people are?

A fascinating image John, which raises many questions!

I suspect you're right about the oil tanks, Keith. Mini-cricket is probably not on, but it wiffleball could be played there, I think.. You could put home plate in the far corner on the left' with the street as the home run area:

And maybe they change the oil the way they do at car races. No time wasted.

"A city where very little is within easy reach." Perhaps not the happiest place for an itinerant pedestrian photographer. On the other hand, perhaps a new canvas to paint on?

A "drive thru oil change" is new to me too. I'd also agree that Keith seems to have the answer for the circles in the concrete.

I think it's more like the drive-thru window at McDonalds, George.
