Ah, seen in large, it isn't a doghouse! Guess I just have dogs on my mind - besides, the building behind doesn't look much like a place where someone would have a dog. One of the local churches?

It's the local United Church, Bob -- formed by a merger of the Methodists, Congregationalists, and some Presbyterians back in the 1920s. The metal bin in front may be for garbage and the white shed for tools for the community garden (which was behind me).

When I saw the thumbnail I thought there was a seal lying at the entrance to that small shed-like structure :-))

It looks like some sort of recreation area attached to the church. It's very clean and well kept. I think the ladder is probably for accessing the roof, rather than a fire escape as it seems to be locked off at the bottom.

Not sure how I'd categorise this one, but it's fascinating all the same and really clean and sharp.

It's a plastic garbage bag, I'm afraid, Keith. These are, I think, church buildings. There are also allotments, which were behind me, and the white shed may be storage for them.

Inscrutable.
Organised religion does create a lot of detritus, I suppose.

And religion is often inscrutable, Steve. I used to work for the Catholic school board here, Steve. Every year the staff would be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. I asked some of the Catholics there -- despite my last name I was raised as a low Anglican -- what that meant, and never got a scrutable answer.

I can well imagine the look on your face when you managed to successfully compose all these elements into one neat, and as Steve says, completely inscrutable arrangement.
I won't -- can't -- go too deeply into the symbolism of it all ....

Thank you, Sarah. It took a few attempts. I told Steve a relevant anecdote I find amusing, even if no one else might.

A great array of different buildings, from the doghouse to the religious edifice.

I too thought it was a kennel...duh! And that is one weird church!!

This is the back of the church, which is more interesting than the rather bland front. True to its suburban site the parking lot has a bigger footprint than the church itself.
