The very simplicity of it all is very appealing.
Well done John.

I like the way you find these bits of infrastructure that are ordinary, passed by, and give them significance.

Thank you very much, Jean. One of my chief interests in photography is things we don't ordinarily look at.

Excellent abstract. It could well be a painting - textures, interesting shapes and harmonious colors. You chose not to post it five years ago???

Thank you very much, Bob. It seems I wasn't interested in it five years ago. I have no edited version of it from back then.

Superb ability to detect and perceive in objects and details usually overlooked, an extraordinary expressive energy and turn it into an amazingly creative image.

Once again wonderful detail and shadows.

I dare to suggest having a look what Maarten Rots and Sean Tucker does:

One thing what I have started to try is to underexpose bravely and embrace shadows like they do. Like Sean Tucker says on his YouTube videos: "Protect your highlights."

Thanks, Sami. I started underexposing shortly after I took up photography, to keep detail in the bright spots (I gather that with film you overexpose a bit because with film it's harder to retrieve detail from dark spots). But as a result of that I learned (eventually) that a photograph without shadows is like a day without sunshine (oh, right -- you don't get shadows on days without sunshine). I became particularly fond of shooting from dark into light, which I have yet to master.

And with snow I believe you should shoot dark, and then if the snow appears blue, brighten by adding red and green, which most of the time will make the snow white without making the photo seem unrealistic.

I have some Rotsesque photos that I think are not currently posted, I'll see if I can find them.

Thank you for the advice regarding the snow. That I need to keep in mind next winter.

Although, we still got some snow last Friday! =,D

It has been very strange weather lately.

It has been here as well. We had snow at the beginning of last week, but it didn't stay.
