It's screwed to the ground. Too big to be stolen. Must be street furniture. Maybe a bike rack. Good selective angle of view for a photo, with nice shadows repeating the visual information. Plus rust! We all love rust (in photographs - not destroying our automobiles etc.)

Tout passe, tout casse, tout lasse, TLC. Especially, I guess, if you don't paint metal often enough. Right place, right time, of course, so more reason to always carry your camera (I split infinitives with abandon because, like why not? Dryden invented that rule out of whole cloth).

Oh, right. We were talking about rust. For some reason I've been fascinated by the beginnings of decrepitude all my life. Maybe it's a long lifetime of watching snow turn from a fluffy white blanket into filthy snowbanks.

Funny. I see motion toward the upper right, when it could as easily be toward the lower left. Guess I'm an optimist?

That may well have something to do with it, Bob. I was mindful that people who use the Roman or Cyrillic alphabet are supposed to scan photos left to right, but I still had it moving upwards, and I've been confident all my life that things will get better.

I'm glad you are both (still) somewhat optimistic, despite rust and shadows and whatnot.
Me, this is throwing me for loops ;-)

Mais il faut cultiver notre jardin, Sarah, surtout quand nos chefs n'ont manifestement pas les mains vertes.

Well seen John. You've turned a mundane object into a work of art!

Thank you very much, Keith. Maybe I'll put this in my Installations album, which contains other mundane objects presented as art.
