A man made desert..............made from tarmac, concrete and bricks. Even the plants look sad!

Thanks, Keith. I'd bet I took this as something we don't pay attention to ordinarily, but now that almost eight years have passed I'm none too sure.

I like it without quite knowing why, either. Could be the composition. The Eastman House history of photography asserts that new topographics was largely about composition. Those photographers do appear to be dab hands at it.

The endless building. If you hadn't included the bit of forward at left, it would have been an allegory of hopelessness, or perhaps something less soap-opera-ish but still long and uninspiring. Perhaps best to see this as bands of color and texture, with small interruptions.

I do like interruptions in photos like this, Bob. A relief from the perfection of architects' drawings.

Like Keith says... and oil stains testifying vehicles previous ocupation ...

Yes, they never show those in the architects' drawings, do they?
