Heinrich Sontheim by Luckhardt

Heinrich Sontheim (1820-1912); German tenor.
He made his debut in 1839 as Pollione in Bellini’s “Norma” at the “Hoftheater Karlsruhe” where he remained until 1850. From 1850 until 1872 he was associated with the “Stuttgarter Hofoper”. He was regarded as one of the greatest tenors of his generation in Germany, together with Albert Niemann and Theodor Wachtel. His total repertoire included over a 100 rôles.
