Hi Maggs. The surface was a soft almost bark-like substance so no danger to the hoofs. On the contrary, quite perfect for soft going!

Wonderful thought of 500 horses... I know it was like that at the railway yards in the old days, but that seems a lot of horses in one place!!!

HFF a day late Herb. This is an interesting scene as it’s 2000 Guineas day.
I used to follow Horse Racing especially in the last 2 decades of the last century but only occasionally since. I wonder if I will remember to watch today’s big race?
