Waiting for the tide

Waiting for the tide
Another taken on our 'Roundstone' round tour, just south of Clifden in the Connemara. A little estuary of sorts, sheltered from the Atlantic storms by Islands and spits of land. See the fisherman out near the top boats and his dog is keeping a keen eye on me. This was the average type of weather out here with constant winds from the West over the wild Atlantic. Makes for moody cloudscapes though.

Deserves full screen on black! PiP

Hello Annermarie. Good to know that you are keeping an eye on me here! Yes, another from my Irish tour (I'm still only on my third day of 14). We did two big tours whilst staying just north of Clifden on the 'Sky Road', this being the first. As always, immensely pleased when one of my Ipernity viewers enjoys my captures so much.

Best Wishes, Herbert

I know that you too really do love these places. It is certainly one of those spots where you just want to stop and take in the wild grandeur and peace. The skies, although not picture postcard blue here certainly added atmosphere. (sic).

That's a wild and moody landscape and, as you note, a great cloudscape.

The silvery light is magic, it makes the water and the rocks shine. A beautifully composed photo of this area between land and sea. The little dog is watching you;-)

Your comments are like nectar to me Gudrun! Very much appreciated. Very happy to share this wonderful spot with you. The dog did come a little closer before running back to his master.

Picture postcard blue skies can be lovely, but this is much more dramatic and interesting. I love the windswept landscape...........and there is so much to look at and enjoy here! A fantastic image Herb!

A scene which is so different from most of our coastal scenes here in mainland England and Wales Keith. As you realise, I was very pleased with these dramatic skies indeed. Windswept was exactly the right word here. Glad you like it.

Hi Herb

I like this very much. The sky certainly adds a great deal to the picture. It would not look right with blue sky!!

Best Wishes,and a good weekend

I love tat beautiful moody sky Herb. A very well composed image. I have never been outside of the UK but Ireland does appeal to me.

Hi Carol. Good that you enjoyed here another of my photos. Shame on you not venturing out into the unknown :) Well if the Continent does not appeal, Ireland could be your answer especially if you like to see scenes and weather like this. A lot of nice bus tours available but I preferred our own independence with our car and rented digs. We did Connemara and Kerry.

Now I'm sitting in the warm October sun. At the sight of this wet landscape with the dark clouds, I'm start to feel cold. But the photo is very interesting and idyllic to look at. Only sunshine would eventually be boring! ;-)
