TSC: Stokers suggestion of 'back to basics'

either use a non-zoom or set your lens to 35 or 50mm only, camera to ISO100, and lets see something SOOC, no crop, no post pro, just like in the old days of film, or even use ISO100 film, mono or colour.

The only post processing allowed will be your watermark-signature.. whatever you call it.

I put my camera in the b/w mode to get the old feel.
I am in the cottage on holidays and no way of processing, so this challenge fitted well.

Wierd, I'm glad you went with the b/w ... adds drama to the image. The opening in the trees makes me want to follow the path and see where it leads. :)

I agree with Gudrun about the film feel. I remember old Swedish films with scenes like this.

Very dramatic as a mono and that path certainly leads you into the picture. Would have perhaps liked to see a little more of the foreground, but I can see that the height of the trees was perhaps forcing your hand somewhat when it came to framing the shot! :)

I had different shots, and on some was more space in front, I chose this one because of the sky, thanks for the feedback

Good composition but I think the cabin is too dark. With your lens wide open as you chose I think you could have reduced the shutter speed without sacrificing that dramatic sky. Do you use an automatic metering or do you use one of the other choices for metering in your camera. I exclusively use spot metering (my instructor insisted) to build a balance for highlight and shadow without sacrificing either.

For the first time I see it large on a big screen, it looks about I thought would be the right exposure. I had some difficulties in the monochrome mode, it seemed to an automatic mode too and it chose 1.8 as the aperture and I did not get it changed. Maybe I should try again, Maybe I did something wrong, the first time I used the monochrome mode on this camera.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

this must be a lovely place, no drama for me; sooc, you got fine detailed clouds and a little detail in the dark tones, that must be the correct exposure.
