Aschaffenburg - Schloss Johannisburg
Das Schloss Johannesburg wurde in den Jahren 1605 - 1614 aus dem für die Gegend typischen Rotsandstein gebaut. Es diente bis 1803 als zweite Residenz des Erzbischofs von Mainz. Bis zum Ende der Monarchie 1918 gehörte es der Bayerischen Krone; heute ist der Freistaat Bayern Eigentümer. Das Schloss wurde im Zweiten Weltkrieg erheblich zerstört und bis 1964 wieder aufgebaut. Heute befinden sich im Innern diverse Museen und Sammlungen.
