After the fires

After the fires
Taken from much the same position as my previous image. Sadly, massive fires in March this year devastated much of the township of Tathra, right down to this spot. Even though it is late winter, the drought conditions continue and there is smoke from new fires burning inland.

Explored.

New South Wales has had a dreadful year. We watch the news and the disruption to farming and even games. An amazing contrast to the photo taken 2 years ago, George. It looks like most of the properties have been saved though.

Thank you, Amelia. The drought extends across much of eastern Australia and the prospects for a break before summer aren't looking good. There were 69 houses destroyed and another 39 damaged in this fire.

Very sad but great documentation. Yes, nature will quickly reclaim what she lost.

A devastating fire, amazing how these fires take hold, right down to the shore.

It was the first time since the fires that we'd visited. While the worst damage was at the northern side of the township, we were surprised how the fire 'spotted' at many other places - as it did here.
