#17 A public event

#17 A public event
I decided to try another sort of distortion on this shot. Post Processing done with GIMP "Lens Distortion". And the rest done with Nik Collection, which still seemed to run on my GIMP 2.10 for Windows after upgrade from GIMP 2.8.

I kept my distance in purpose to avoid people becoming recognized. It was some sort of a public event for bicyclists. One could get information on how to mend a bike, and what road traffic acts one should know when riding a bike on public roads. There was also entertainment and food available.

Well done Sami.
Always good to know the law, ignorance of it is no excuse for breaking it.

A common error bicyclist does in Finland is riding a bike on zebra crossing and expecting the drivers with cars would be obligated to yield. And because of that it is also the most common reason for the accidents where bicyclists get hurt. Very often poor car drivers does not even get a chance to yield, if they would like to. The situations where bicyclist jump in front of the car is often way too sudden.

Same problems as here. But it's not only the bicyclists, also the car drivers behave dangerously. For example, if they overtake and turn right too early. I know that, because I travel a lot by bicycle; especially in the town. Of course, I always follow all the traffic rules. :-)

Hi Sami

Nice idea to experiment with the geometry..

Also interesting comment about cyclists and crossings..

In England, while often called a 'zebra' crossing, its proper name is 'pedestrian crossing'. A cyclist is NOT a pedestrian!! We too have a massive problem with people riding bicycles on the footpath (actually against the law, but never enforced by the police), and then riding over a zebra crossing - exactly as you say.

In law, therefore we have no obligation for the motorist to stop!

Best Wishes, and a good weekend
Peter

Yes, there are also cultural differences. I have heard in Holland and in Denmark bicyclists are the kings of the road. But also here in Finland there are places where "terror of bicyclists" has almost "overridden" the law. For example here in Tampere the pedestrians on foot almost need to have eyes in their back to avoid become hit by bicyclists! =D
