For some stupid reason the galloping horses always made me nervous, even though I didn't mind the much faster rides. I can remember my mum taking my children on them for me and she was so busy settling them that the ride has started. The man in charge had to give her an unceremonious shove in the posterior to get her up on a horse!! She giggled throughout the ride, as did we.

It is a shame Carol, because one of the autographs was Dusty Springfield, when she was with The Springfields! I know what you mean about the horses...I think it's going round and up and down at the same time ;-)) Your mothers predicament made me smile!!

That's a very ornate picnic bench Rosa...........and it looks quite old. It looks impressive as the focal point of the shot with that lovely colourful carousel background.

It sounds as if you have some lovely memories from there. I bet your (missing) autograph book would have been interesting to have another look at!

I'm not sure that they are old Keith but there are about 6 of them in the gardens. They are surprisingly comfortable.

I don't know what happened to the autograph book but I had a few good ones, including Dusty Springfield, Charlie Drake and Valentine Dyall, who was in a play that us kids were not looking forward to, but it was great....very funny!

There are about 6 benches like this Peter. All families making use of them when I was there.
I have one autograph book from when I used to go to motorbike scrambles with my dad, but I wish I still had the one I mentioned!

Qué buena idea esa de dejar los niños un libro de autógrafos para recuerdo en la posteridad. Lo malo es que pase como en ciertos sitios de Internet, donde guardamos las fotos y luego desaparecen. La foto es colorida y el banco sólido, aunque no lo veo sujeto al suelo, parece de quita y pon. HBM, Rosa y gusta leer tus recuerdos de niñez.

I think my autograph book must have been accidentally thrown away when we moved house many years ago. The benches are screwed into the ground as far as I know Jose Manuel.
