Weymouth Quay ~ Coxwain's Cottage.

Weymouth Quay ~ Coxwain's Cottage.
A couple of things I found of interest along Weymouth Quay. In the main picture, a door that took my eye, belonging to The Old Coxwain's Cottage and the PiP, Dadd & Son on an old Morris Minor van. We don't see many of then about now!

DSC 0264 Morris Minor van. HBM

Like the colour of the door and the nautical fittings including the somewhat large peephole. I'm guessing the occupant must be 'Popeye';-)) Nice capture of the Morris Minor van. As you say, not many about now.

Enjoy your day Rosa

I am pleased you like the door Doug. I thought it was very smart. I didn't see any tins of spinach lying around ;-)) Good to see the old Morris in use.

All the best,
Rosa.

A great couple of finds Rosa...........just the sort of thing I like to photograph.

The door is gorgeous...........I love the colour of the woodwork and the contrasting black frame, canopy and ironwork. The brass fittings are superb, especially the little porthole.

I love the Morris Minor van...........and the name of the firm, which is brilliant. (I learned to drive in a Morris 1000 Traveller, which is not too different).

Very well captured.

I am pleased you like both shots Keith. The door was very close to the quayside and looks well cared for, with the shiny fittings.

It was the name on the van that I noticed first, then took a look at the old Morris van. I can't remember what I learnt to dive with, but I went to pieces on my first test. So much so that I took the second in a different town! I did pass though :-))

A wonderful old van and a great advert for them i wonder if they use it for work or take it to shows, Dadd may have retired by now !!!!! The door shows how we all view things differently to me it is completely wrong a tarted up holiday let maybe. I hope you are having a pleasant evening Rosalyn it's pouring with rain.
Hello again out of curiosity I Googled Dadd and son Dadd is the surname, one of the jobs they did was to repaint the outside of Pete Waterman's Pullman railway carriages

They were working Peter. By the look of the man sat outside the house, I don't think it's a holiday let. He looked like a man of the sea :) Rather grey here too, but better tomorrow apparently!

Thank you Jose Manuel. I am pleased you like the door, as I do.
It is mainly pedestrians along the quayside, but parking is permitted for working and deliveries. The man's surname is Dadd and dad & son working together looked good :-)
Happy Wednesday.

Lovely door, its colour and fixtures evocative of their life, the center of the world.
The Morris is now something . . . nostalgic.

A striking (and beautifully maintained) door, Rosa. Yes, the old Morris van is now uncommon, though there is one in our local car club.

I am pleased you like the door George. We see quite a few in the local shows, and so beautifully maintained, but It is very unusual to see a working van. It probably gets Mr Dadd and Son a lot of work!

Hi Rosa
A very nice picture, which I like very much!
I must have walked past this cottage, but I don't remember it. Perhaps I must learn to keep my eyes open!
Great colours by the way!!
