Love these images Rosa, especially the main one. The light is gorgeous and the water looks very clean and clear. The sweeping curve of the cove is beautiful as is the surrounding landscape. The people on the beach give some scale too.

Looking at the PiP, which is nicely detailed, I'm surprised to see how much chalk there is amongst the pebbles.

I walked along this stretch many years ago in driving wind and rain so bad we couldn't see the beach, it was quite scary. I've never been back since, but now I'll have to add it to my list (which must be nearly as long as yours).

There are 5 rock types at Lulworth Cove, they are Portland Limestone, Purbeck Beds, Wealden Clay, Greensand and Chalk. The different colours are quite amazing. Such a shame the weather was so bad when you visited last. It is worth adding to the ever growing list, but don't visit at the height of summer....far too many people! I really must start ticking some of my list off! ;-))

Thanks for the info Rosa.........quite a variety! I didn't visit it by choice last time...........it was was what the RN called a "leadership exercise"..!!

I think I'm too old to get round to a lot of stuff on my list. I'm getting to the stage of my life when the further something is from the car park, the less photogenic it seems :-)))

All I'll say is, the car park is close and there's a cafe ;-))

I have read that the bay is one of the world's most beautiful examples of such a landscape form and is a World Heritage Site.

Thank you George. Five kinds of rock there, which I guess is quite unusual. The colours are certainly different and fascinating. There is an excellent visitor centre with great information.

Hi Peter,
This was taken from the higher ground around the edge of the cove.
We didn't walk to Durdle Door as there was just too much to see in
a day and then having lunch, taking up some of our time. We have
said we will walk there on the next visit though. I hope that will be soon.
