In memoriam...........Andy Rodker

In memoriam...........Andy Rodker
Sadly, I never met Andy in real life, but through our interaction here on Ipernity I became to think of him as a friend.

My thoughts go out to his Family and friends in England and in Spain and to everyone who knew him on Ipernity.

May he rest in peace.

Nouchetdu38, Aschi "Freestone", Luc Reiniche, buonacoppi and 24 other people have particularly liked this photo

Reinhard Mey, a great german sing- and songwriter once told us: "Above the clouds, freedom must be boundless...", in german language it sounds so great: "Über den Wolken, muss die Freiheit wohl grenzenlos sein..." . . .
I didn't know Andy, but I feel the sadness.

Thank you for these lovely words Jean Paul............there will be many photos in Andy's memorial group and I hope some day his family and friends may read them, so they know that he was held in such high regard by his Ipernity friends.

Thank you for this page, Keith. I, too, felt close to Andy even though we never met in person. It seemed almost as if we had! I wrote this on the "In Memoria" page:

"Oh, our dear Andy...I am heartbroken... How I cherish the "good old days" when we were both healthy as horses and had scathingly funny exchanges about the differences between British and American English.

Andy was, of course, the expert in the British version and I only a moderately-educated user of the American one. He would sometimes (begrudgingly!) give in to Noah Webster's sensible American spelling of English words such as analize, color, maneuver, labor, etc. We never resolved our argument over aluminum vs. aluminium. I gave in to British grammar, but found it impossible to work it into my American conversations. Oh, Andy, I will always miss you and those funny, long conversations.

Thanks so much for all of the lessons about granite in Spain and tin mining in Cornwall, too.

Well, Andy, I'll eventually bump into you flying around up there. In the meantime, make sure everyone is speaking proper English. British, with American spelling."
