Our House

Our House
This week in SSC:

"Take a photo and then post-process it using your favorite program. Include original."

This old place sits in the lot next to a Walmart believe it or not. I'm guessing they wouldn't sell, but I really know nothing about this old building. I'm not sure if it was a house or a chicken coop. (For my song choice, I'm imaging it as a lovely cozy (long) home at one time. It does have a power pole. :)

I cropped and leveled it a little bit, increased the contrast and then used my Nik Collection "Silver efex Pro2" to give it an old-time feeling. I really like playing around with this kind of processing. You can see the original in the PiP.

...and for Sight and Sound:
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young from their "Déjà Vu" album (1970)

You processed it to its advantage, adding noise was a very good option too!

superbe exemple ; le noir et blanc apporte du romantisme à l'originale

j 'aime les deux photos. Le noir et blanc accentue le côté tragique et abandonné de cette maison ; c 'est cette version qui me parle le plus:-)

This looks like something from 100 years ago! Very effective processing, Karen! If there is a Walmart right by this structure, then it's only a matter of time before it's demolished and replaced by another big box store. ;-)

Wonderfully processed, but both versions have their own charm.

Removing the colour seems to really focus attention on the 'house' and most definitely creates an old-time feeling. A great result, Karen. I wish I could have such success with "Silver efex Pro2". This result inspires me to try again!! A spot-on music match. Great CSN&Y track!

A marvellous old building Karen. Your processing has taken it back to the 1800s very effectively.

Hi Karen

I really like this treatment. It works really well, and certainly fooled me into thinking it something more grandiose..(till I saw the Pip)

Best Wishes,
Peter

The photo profits vastly from the bw conversion. It gives it a historic look and moeoever it hides a sky that doesn't do much for any photo;-) Your crop got rid of the less interestig bits, excellent work!
