What a gorgeous colour Gillian. I always associate the the name Jacaranda with the club in Liverpool where The Beatles played in their early years.
It's nice to actually see the blossom.

Thanks Rosalyn. Surprisingly, I hadn't heard of the Jacaranda Club in Liverpool. I didn't really follow the Beatles, until much later on.

It's officially Spring here in Australia from 1 September - 30 November... gleaned from abc.net.au...
"That’s because we follow the meteorological seasonal system, which means the seasons change on the first of September, March, June and December."

This is a gorgeous looking tree, Gillian. We have similar coloured flower here, which is a wisteria and it climbs over buildings and looks magnificent

They are flowering all over town now. Jacarandas are originally indigenous to South America, but their history in South Africa can be traced back to as early as 1880, when they were imported from Argentina and later Brazil. It is a medium sized tree. I think the wisteria is more flexible in that it can be trained to create arches, etc.
Apparently - woody climbing legume native to Central China. Interesting...

They are glorious! We don't have Jacarandas but with climate change - who knows.....

You have seasonal changes, which is great. It is not so noticeable here, except that we have Jacarandas at this time, and then in December, we have red poincianas.

These trees are really gorgeous when they are flowering. I like the long flowers which are grouped in long panicles.
