A wonderful coastal image Gillian, although the UK is a small island I live about as far from the sea as you can get

Thanks Peter. It's surprising about the distances in the UK, that it can feel quite a long way. I was born in Southampton, with a family of seafarers, although we did live inland in Gloucestershire and Berkshire for a while.

In my world the ocean is close but not that close! (We are about an hour and a half away from the pacific ocean.) What a delight for you and a treat for us! I would probably spend all my days photographing the ocean if I lived near you. You have captured a nice wave spray here which gives a good sense of the motion of the water. Wonderful composition that makes me happy to view.

Thank you for the story of your location. I wouldn't have thought such a place as you photographed would be that close to a larger city. You make it feel like it is completely untouched by humans.

Does your weather change often due to being so close to the ocean? Does that make it harder (or easier?) to have days to photograph outside?

Where we live is near a coastal village which is five minutes away. It is not very busy, except in the summer holidays. Our nearest town is 15 minutes away, also coastal, and our nearest big city is Sydney, almost 4 hours away. Sydney has some great beaches on the harbour, and also quite nearby on the coast.

Our weather is very changeable, and has been particularly so this year, much more rain than usual, but we are lucky to have many wonderful days.

Well done on hosting the ipernity World Photography Day!

So you aren't a city boy! But you do seem to travel around quite a bit. Best of both worlds.
